A Generous Life took a team of 19 generous individuals to the Dominican Republic in August. It was “Super Bueno”, these were the words used by our local partner Joel at the end of our meeting on the bus in the middle of a Haitian Batey. “Super Bueno”, became the words I used to describe everything great about the trip going forward. It was an awesome meeting that ended in a decision to move forward with the building of a Aquaponics System in one of the Batey’s we were working, on the land owned by our partners.
During our trip our team set up 22 water filtration systems and left an additional 11 filters with our partners on the ground. These filters will bring clean water to 4 communities and over 700 people. The team also fed more than 700 people during our time in the Batey’s. They played with the kids, sang songs to them, shared their life stories with them, and just loved on them. It was SUPER BUENO!
The team also had a few baseball players on it, so we set up a couple of baseball clinics for the kids of San Pedro. It was a blast and the team did a great job of sharing some of the fundamentals of baseball.
Looking forward to the next trip back to the DR in the fall of 2013. We will be going to help set up the first of the Aquaponics Systems in a Haitian Batey. We look forward to seeing our partners on the ground and seeing the new friends we have made.
